Terry Wong McDonnell

Ms. Terry Wong-McDonnell, a Royal Academy of Dance Registered Teacher (RAD RTS), and Associate of RAD (ARAD) welcome you to Poise Ballet. (Moved to USA in 2009).

Teacher Terry, is a British National from London, England. After 9 years full time training with RAD Examiners, Ms. June Mitchell and Ms. Joan O'Hara in RAD London, and Mr. Raul Sauz, RAD Philippines Examiner. As well as Ms. Perry Sevidal, former artist of ballet company, Ballet Philippines. Terry gained her RAD qualifications not only as a professional level dancer as well as a professional teacher. (As a Certified RAD classical ballet teacher, Terry is qualified to teach your children in a fun, safe and nurturing environment.)

Terry has been dancing a variety of dance: Ballet, Flamenco, Tap and Jazz for more than 20 years. Nine years training with Ms. Joan Gibbs of the UK, Terry was awarded Gold Medal for Adult popular Tap by the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (I.S.T.D.), London – England.

DANIEL ARIZMENDI, Assistant Artistic Director / Contemporary

An international martial arts champion, Daniel began his vocational ballet training with a full scholarship at Redding Ballet Academie in their Pre-Professional program, and he also was privately coached by Natasha Morken.

For over six years, he was a principal dancer with Redding City Ballet as well as a resident choreographer for both the company and the school.

He also founded Belariz Ballet School, is the former Owner/Director of The Dance Zone Studio, is a senior member of the world renowned indigenous dance company Dancing Earth, was a founding member of Artesan Dance Company, and has worked with various companies throughout the world.

As an indigenous choreographer and teacher, he creates original works and teaches master classes for dance companies, schools, and universities.

JAMES BOWEN, Lyrical Jazz

James Bowen is originally from Dallas, TX. He began his dance training at the age of 18 while attending Kansas State University, where he studied modern dance forms such as Limon and Graham, and also trained in Classical Ballet and Jazz. He has received scholarships to train at Kansas City Ballet’s summer intensive.

James was also a member and captain of Kansas State University Cheerleading where they have placed top 10 at the NCA Collegiate Cheerleading National Championships. He also was a Head Instructor of the National Cheerleaders Association, teaching cheerleading camps all over United States for 6 years. James has been awarded top veteran, most prepared veteran, and best Buddy while serving with NCA.

James has been part of professional dance companies such as Dallas Black Dance Theater and HappyNia Dance Theater Productions in his home state of Texas and Ink Dance in Los Angeles, CA. He was also featured in and co-directed with Danny Brown the music video “Far” by the Canopy Climbers which received recognition at local film festivals. After completing his second season with INKED, James move to the Bay Area and is now part of Rea Talent Agency in San Francisco and Berkley Ballet Theater. He also had the opportunity to dance at the 2015 San Francisco Pride Festival and will be featured on the television docu-series “Transcendent” on Fuse TV.

He enjoyed spending time at inner city schools teaching dance styles to children for the outreach programs.

As instructor, James has been teaching ballet, jazz, hip hop and gymnastics for ten years. He is very excited to share his artistic knowledge and grow with Poise Ballet!
